Keep in mind that tree pruning in the Northern Beaches is important as it assists with stimulating growth and maintaining tree structure and shape. Overall, the goal is to create a lush, full, growing and vibrant tree or plant.

1. Mango Tree

Mangoes are a tropical fruit, with tropical and sub-tropical regions of Queensland producing around half of Australia’s mangoes each year.

The remaining is grown in scattered regions over different times across the Northern Territory, Western Australia and New South Wales.

You might be looking to grow your own mangoes and if your tree has taken and is bearing fruit, that’s great news!

Part of caring for your mango tree and maximizing fruit production includes tree pruning in the Northern Beaches.

Depending on when your mango tree starts to bear fruit, the best time to trim or prune your tree is considered immediately after the harvest.

Keep in mind that a young mango tree will grow more in its first few years so keep at the tree trimming to keep your mango tree a manageable size.

When pruning or trimming, remove any dead or diseased branches and avoid pruning when you see flowers starting to bloom.

The basic idea when pruning a mango tree is to manage its height and improve flowering.

2. Bamboo

Spring and winter are considered the best times to prune your bamboo tree.

Bamboos are a wonderful plant, very useful for things like privacy screens, hedging or just as their own stand along plant.

Typically you can cut the bamboo plant anywhere you like depending on what purpose the bamboo has in your yard. But if you want to encourage new growth, avoid cutting below the nodal area. The nodal area is where new smaller branches emerge from existing branches.

Prune your fig trees in the winter time, when the tree is dormant and before new leaves start to sprout.
